Working/Tax payers should have security assurance.

Detail Description:

Me and my husband have been part of the working class for the last 17 years working toward having a home. Finally, a year ago we were able to purchase our first home. We have been together for 18 years and married 11. For the first year we were not living in the home because there was some renovations required. And about 40 days ago we were able to move in and finish other projects while in. And 30 days into the home our house was shoot into several times and our family 8 year family member was injuried. This incident has upset the foundation that we have been working so hard to maintain. This difficult to handle because we have not been in any altercations that would warrant something like this to take place. It's has been more than 30 days and we have not heard any thing from the local Police department. Me and my husband have made several calls as to what the status of the situation is. I'm very angry, school is getting ready to start and we are not even secure enough to return to the home and spend a night there. This has been cost effective and unfair. Financially we are unable to just move to another location at this time.

Home Location: XXXXXXXXXXXX
Detroit, MI XXXX

We have receive notes asking us if we are going to rent out our residence...is this a we want your house tactic.

Worst-Case Scenario:

Moving back in and another incident happens again.

Possible Options:

I would like to have some signs posted in the neighborhood/in front of my lawn indicating that we have been victims of a crime supported by an organization. Maybe this would get the attention of the Police Department and Media. Also, informing the neighbors that the new family that moved in are not criminals that warrant this type of backfire.

We do not want our names/faces displaced due to security of our family. Not sure where this is coming from.

What I have tried:

I have sent my concerns in Letter form to the Mayor of Detroit and Chief of Police. Several attempts to contact Police Department for a Status update.

Update - Latest Status, Additional Information:
